I am a sixth year graduate student at Columbia University in the astronomy department.  I built the FIREBall  UV fiber-fed spectrograph for my thesis. We recently had our second flight, and are in the process of reducing the data. We will be able to put the first upper limits (or maybe a detection?) on emission from the warm-hot intergalactic medium.

Outside of banging things with wrenches, my interests lie in the areas of galaxy formation and evolution. I am particularly curious to understand the role that gas has in regulating those processes.
