WHO IS DAVID KIPPING?
I’m an Assistant Professor of Astronomy at Columbia University, where I research extrasolar planets and moons. I lead the Cool Worlds Lab at Columbia, and if you want to learn about our research then you should head over to the Cool Worlds Lab website.
I am most well-known for my work on exomoons but my research interests also include the study and characterization of transiting exoplanets, the development of novel detection and characterization techniques, exoplanet atmospheres, Bayesian inference, population statistics and understanding stellar hosts. I am the Principal Investigator (PI) of The Hunt for Exomoons with Kepler (HEK) project. I also enjoy publicizing science and run a YouTube channel discussing my group's research and related science.
