work will include analysis of data from a wide-field CCD survey of M31, covering most of the stars in that galaxy. Data are being obtained at
several observatories, including MDM Observatory, of which Columbia controls a 25% share. The successful applicant will have access to
MDM for this and other projects, and will be free to devote 50% of his/her time to individual research including unrelated topics. Duties will
include observing and pipeline data reductions as well as analysis and interpretation. This position is available for one year with the possible
extension to up to three years, starting between now and September 2001. Applications are being accepted between now and 1 December 2000.
Applicants should provide a curriculum vitae, summary of research, and three letters of reference to the address above. Women and minorities
are encouraged to apply. AAE/EOE.
