MDM Observatory's 8K CCD array project:
FIELD OF VIEW AND IMAGING QUALITY OVER 8K ARRAY e-mail: arlin@astro.columbia.edu Telephone: (212) 854-7899 |
This discussion is based on the FuSi doublet corrector design by Paul
Byard (
e-mail: byard@astronomy.ohio-state.edu) of the Imaging
Science Lab at Ohio State U.
The naked plate scale of the 2.4-meter telescope is virtually unmodified by the
corrector at 86.4 micron/arcsec.
Since the pixels are 15 micron on a side, that's 0.174 arcsec/pixel.
There is some image distortion (0.7% at field radii of 18 arcmin).
The entire field of view is 24.0 arcmin on a side.
IMAGING QUALITY
For the Byard design, r.m.s. image diameters have been computed for U, B, V, R
and I.
Imaging Performance of Byard Corrector:
Field Angle | R.M.S. Diam. (U) | R.M.S. Diam. (B) | R.M.S. Diam. (V) | R.M.S. Diam. (R) | R.M.S. Diam. (I) |
