CHARACTERISTICS OF UPGRADE CCD SET (Preliminary)

These CCDs have been installed, but not fully characterized as of late 2000.

CCDs: Eight 2048x4096 SITe CCDs; thinned, science grade

Image Size: 8192x8192 pixels, 16 bits/pixel, plus overscan (and header) totalling about 134 Mbytes per image in raw form. CCDs read out as 2048 serial rows by 4096 parallel columns, compatible with IRAF Mosaic (msc package) software.

Pixel Size: 15 microns (square)

Dynamic Quantum Efficiency: Peaks at about 85% near 650 nm, DQE about 20% at 320 nm, 40% at 900 nm

Read Noise: About 4-10e/pixel

Dark Current: about 5-10 electrons/pixel/hour

Cosmetics: Grade 2, about 5 bad columns per CCD, about 0.3% by area

Saturation: linear to about 0.1% up to about 70000e/pixel
